Picture Perfect Card

Hello everyone!  Today, is going to be a quick post with a fun and easy card to create.

For the cute little camera image and the sentiment I used the D-504 Picture Perfect stamp set from The Rubber Cafe`.  The card came together really quick and easy with a few layers of paper (all cardstock from DiscountCardstock.com listed below), stamps and die cuts.  I used S5-149 SnapshotS4-399 Charmed I'm Sure and S4-398 Say What die templates from Spellbinders Creative Arts™.  I used Royal & Langnickel Silver Engraving Art Foil for the camera die cut and lightly sanded the paper to reveal the silver foil.  I love how the camera turned out!  The only coloring that I did was to add a little sparkle to the stamped image of the camera using a Spica Silver Glitter Pen.

Here is a close up of the camera.  Love the sparkle!

For the snapshot and little word block I used letter press technique (or maybe you have heard it called Reverse Stencil) with Versa Magic Midnight Black in from Imagine Craft/Tsukineko.  If you have never done the letter press technique it is really easy--put the die template on a piece of scratch paper with the cut side (ridges) face up, press the ink pad in to the die template giving it a good coverage of ink.  Then carefully pick up the die template and place it face down on the paper you want to cut and then die cut the image.  The ink can get a little messy so I usually put a sheet of printer paper down on my mat, then the die template and cardstock and then fold over the printer paper.  When you do this both sides of  the die template will be covered and you won't get ink on your mats.  Once you are done you can use a baby wipe to remove the ink or wash it with soap and water.  The best ink to use for this technique is a craft ink--like a pigment or chalk ink--something that won't dry too quick.  To finish off the card I added a few Holly Berry Red Jellie Dots from The Rubber Cafe`.

Thinking of You Card & Stamping with Glue Technique

Hello blogging friends!  I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend!  Today, I have a card and another tutorial to share with you using the Stamping with Glue Technique with Scrap Happy Sheer Glue from the The Rubber Cafe`.

Here is the card that I designed using the D-498 Script Background stamp and Scrap Happy Sheer Glue along with a couple colors of You're So Fine Glitter to create the sparkling script on the pattern paper.  The pretty pattern paper is from the Bo Bunny Prairie Chic 6 x 6 Paper Pad.

To start I apply some of the Scrap Happy Sheer Glue to the D-498 Script Background using a makeup sponge.  I make a little puddle of glue on some scrap paper, dab the sponge into the glue and apply to the stamp.  If you have never done the Stamping with Glue technique you might want to try it on a scrap piece of paper a couple of time.  You want a nice coat of glue, not too thick and clumpy because you won't get a clear image and not to thin because then your stamp might stick to the paper.  Also you need to wash your stamp/s right away.  I just use some soap and warm water with a little scrub brush.  Here's a little tip--a tooth brush is great for scrubbing stamps--it has small softer bristles and can get in to all of the little spots on the stamps. ;-)  Also, don't worry about your glue drying and not having enough time to apply the glitter.  The great thing about the Scrap Happy Sheer Glue is that it drys tacky so it is prefect for the Stamping with Glitter technique!

This is what the pattern paper looked like after I stamped it with the glue.  Can you see the script pattern?

Next, I applied some of the You're So Fine Glitter-Bronze Medal in a few areas.  I took a little pinch of glitter, sprinkled it on the paper and then used my fingers to rub it in.  Real technical--LOL!  When using  more then one color of glitter work in small sections, rub in the glitter and tap off the excess as you go.  This will keep the glitter from getting on all of the areas of glue.

Then I used You're So Fine Glitter-Princess Pink to apply the second layer of glitter.

Here is a close up of the glittery script background on the pattern paper.  As a reminder you can click the images to enlarge them.

Here is a close up of the center of the card.  I used J-1095 Fabulous Phrases and B-217 Daisy Splash to stamp the sentiment and flowers.  I used Lilac Posies and Desert Sand Memento inks from Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko.  Then I used the Artisan X-Plorer™ and S3-205 Petite Labels One Die D-Lite to cut/emboss the little label.  I added some Edna Natural Crochet Lace Trim and a Sun Rose Seam Binding bow from Really Reasonable Ribbon.  The Sun Rose Seam Binding matched the Lilac Posies ink perfectly!  The butterfly is from Recollections and I spritzed it with Pssst! Sheer Shimmer Spritz Sparkle and added Diva Pink Jellie Dots.  I used my handy Stick "EM" Up Tool for perfect placement of the Jellie Dots.  It's a great little tool for picking up small embellishments.  To finish off the card I added some ivory roses and a handmade stick pin.

For the solid paper I used Simply Smooth Ivory and Kraft from DiscountCardstock.com.  To create the mats I used S5-131 A2 Matting Basics AS5-132 A2 Matting Basics B from Spellbinders Creative Arts™.

So what do you think about the Stamping with Glue technique?  Is it something you would like to try or have you done this technique before?

Vintage Rose Candle & Media Mixáge

Hello everyone!  How is your weekend going?  I had a pretty good day.  The weather was so beautiful--I even opened the windows.  I spent some time outside and I got in a little bit of crafting time.  I wanted to get this post up earlier today but I was searching all over for the battery charger for my old camera.  My husband and our youngest went to a Twins game today and they took my good camera.  I couldn't remember for the life of me where I put the charger for the old camera and as luck would have it the battery was totally dead--LOL!  But I finally found.  ;-)

Today, I have a quick and easy home decor piece with a step-by-step tutorial to share with you using some of the new Media Mixáge Collections from Spellbinders Creative Arts™.  I have had several email from people who have said they would love to try out the Media Mixáge Collections but they haven't ever done anything with mixed media and they want to take it slow (baby step) until they can learn a little more about it.

So I thought I would share a project that is quick and easy to create (baby steps) using a bezel and die template from the Media Mixáge Collections.   Here is a candle holder that I altered.  I didn't time myself while I was making it but if I had to guess I think it was probably about 20-30 minutes start to finish.  Maybe even a little less--I was taking pictures for the tutorial while I was making it. ;-)

Ok, let's get started!

This was a candle holder that I picked up at one of the big box stores for a couple of dollars.  To start I added Prima Divine Washi Tape to the top and bottom of the candle holder.

Next I used some Simply Smooth Ivory cardstock and the MD1-008 Squares Two Die Template along with the Artisan X-Plorer™ to cut the square shape.  Then I used the E3D-006 Framed Labels Eighteen folder to emboss the paper.  I lightly inked the embossed area of the paper with Memento Angel Pink ink and then I misted it with Pssst! Sheer Shimmer Spritz Gold.  Both the ink and spritz are from Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko.

Check out all of the shimmer from the spritz!  (you can click all of the images to enlarge)  This is the piece that I am using for the background in the bezel.

Next, I fussy cut this beautiful little rose image from the Prima Divine Collection 6 x 6 Paper Pad and I inked the edges of the paper with Memento Espresso Truffle ink from  Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko.

I glued the embossed piece inside the bezel and then I added a 3D Foam Square from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L™ to the back of the rose image and place it in the center of the bezel.  The bezel I used for this project is MB2-005S Susan Lenart Kazmer for Spellbinders™ Media Mixáge™ Squares Two Bezels - Silver.

I added some Pink Salmon Seam Binding from Really Reasonable Ribbon and threaded it through the backside of the bezel.  I also added some 3D Foam Squares to the back of the bezel so it can easily be attached to the candle holder.

Once the bezel was in place I tied the seam binding in to a little bow. Then for a finishing touch I added some Kaisercraft Pewter Pearls.  So what do you think?  This is a perfect home decor piece for the Spring and Summer.  It was quick, easy and inexpensive to create.  It would also make a wonderful gift for a friend.

If you have any projects that you have created using the Media Mixáge Collection I would love to see them! Leave me a link to your blog or gallery in the comment section.

Chartreuse & Aqua Fleur de Lis Necklace with Media Mixáge™ and ICE Resin®

Hello blogging friends!  Before I get started with my project for today I want to say a HUGE Thank You to everyone who has visited my blog to entered for the Giveaways!!!  Thank you so much for subscribing to my blog, following me on Pinterest and Facebook!!  I have been reading all of your comment about your favorite go-to product and it sounds like we have a LOT of die cutters out there!! ;-)  Also thank you for all of your wonderful comments about my design work.  I love what I do and I love sharing it--so I hope I can continue to inspire you!!

If you are looking for the Giveaway post you can click HERE to find out all of the details.

One other thing that I want to address--I have received a few emails from some of my international reader about the giveaway only being open to the US.  Most of you have been very understanding but I have received some emails that have been kind of nasty and people unsubscribing so I thought I should address this.  First of all I am really sorry.  I understand your disappointment and I wish I could open the giveaway to everyone.  The only reason I didn't open the giveaway to everyone is due to the increased cost of shipping.  The two stamps sets were donated but everything else included in the giveaway is something that I am doing on my own, at my own expense and it is not affiliated with the companies I design/work for.  I have already invested a good amount of money in being able to do this giveaway and if I had to ship the prizes to other countries it would end up costing me almost as much as I have already spent to do the giveaway.
I hope you can understand. ♥  For those of you who do understand and have been so supportive--thank you--I truly appreciate it!!

Ok, now that all the business stuff is out of the way would you like to see some artwork? ;-)

You can click on all of the photos to enlarge them.

Here is a necklace I designed using one of the MB2-007 Susan Lenart Kazmer for Spellbinders™ Media Mixáge™ Fleur de Lis Bezel - Bronze from Spellbinders Creative Arts™.  This Chartreuse & Aqua Fleur de Lis necklace is perfect for Spring.  Love these two colors together!

Here is a close up of the bezel.  To started I added ICED Enamels® Medium in to the base of my bezel.  Then I sprinkled in some of the ICED Enamels® Chartreuse Relique and made sure to cover the entire surface.  Then I removed the excess and put it back in the container.  Next, I sprinkled in some of the ICED Enamels® Relique Glitz Powder Gold.  Love all of the sparkle in gold!  I used my heat tool to melt the ICED Enamels and the Glitz Powder.  For myself I have found that if I use a craft tweezers to hold the bezel then I can start to heat set from the bottom of the bezel.  Doing this allows the powders to melt and not blow out of the bezel.  Once the powders start to melt then I used the heat tool on the top of the bezel.  ***Please be very careful when doing this--the bezel will get really hot!  I also use a craft mat to set the bezel on while I am heating the powders.  When you are done with the heat tool set the bezel aside to cool off.

The next step is adding the ICE Resin®.  I cut a piece of a white garbage bag and place on an old plate.  Then I put the bezel on the plate.  I used the 1 oz. Syringe Singles, mix it according to the instructions and then pour in to the bezel.  I also placed a few rhinestones in the bezel. Set aside to dry for 6-8 hrs. (That's the hard part--waiting--LOL!) The reason for using the white garbage bag is so if you have any of the resin over flow from the bezel or spill it won't hurt anything and you will be able to easily remove the bezel.

Once the bezel was done then I added it to a chain to make a necklace.  I used Jump Rings, Head Pins, Gem Drops, Bead Spacers, Beads and a Clasp to finish off the necklace.

I hope my necklace inspires you to give the new Media Mixáge™ Collection and ICE Resin® a try.

Really Reasonable Ribbon April Blog Hop

Hello blogging friends!  Today, is the Really Reasonable Ribbon Blog Hop for the month of April.  The RRR Design Team Members and Special Events Design Team Members will be showcasing the Monthly Ribbon Club.

This month there is a beautiful assortment of Turquoise and Green ribbons with a touch of White and Light Yellow included in the April Ribbon Club.  Click HERE for more details on how you can sign up for the Monthly Ribbon Club.

If you are following the order of the blog hop you should have just come from Judy's Blog. If not and you just happened to pop in for a visit please click HERE to start the blog hop at the Really Reasonable Ribbon's Ramblings! Blog.

For my project I designed a card using two of the ribbons and the white crochet lace trim in the April Ribbon Club Assortment Apple/Turquoise.  The pattern paper is from Prima Firefly Collection 6 x 6 Paper Stack and it matches the ribbon perfectly.

Here is a close up of the ribbon.  I used the stripe ribbon and the crochet lace trim to create a border across the bottom.  Then I used the turquoise ribbon and crochet lace trim to make the bow.  To create the flower die cuts I used Simply Smooth White cardstock and F-014 Delicate Pastels Premium Craft Foils Assortment Spring Green and S3-206 Asters and Poppies die templates.  The S3-206 Asters and Poppies are from the new Die D-Lites collection from Spellbinders Creative Arts™.  I added some pearls and bling to the flowers  and I added a couple of stickpins.

Here is a close up of the stickpins.  The stickpin with the pearls, yellow bead, frosted flower bead cap and blue/green bead is handmade.

For the sentiment I used Memento Teal Zeal ink and a stamp from CR-04460 Celebration Labels One & Bracket One stamp set from JustRite Papercraft.  To create the label die cut I used  S3-205 Petite Labels One and Simply Smooth White cardstock.  I also added a little bling to the label and I added some diamond stickles to the pattern paper.

I used S5-131 A2 Matting Basics A to cut/emboss the pattern paper.  To create the embossed paper I used

Sno Cone cardstock and EL-020 Awesome Blossoms folder and I used  S6-001 5 x 7 Matting Basics A die template.  To make the embossed area pop a little more I addd Memento Teal Zeal ink.  The card base is Chamios Cascata Felt cardstock.

I hope you enjoyed my project and you find lots of inspiration on the blog hop!

Now to continue in the blog hop you need to hop on over to Vivian's Blog and check out her fantastic project!
